Her undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Sciences in the Arts from Empire State University, with two early years spent majoring in Astronomy at Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. She also pursued continuing education courses at the New School for Social Research in New York City, and built up to her life skills in video editing for her degrees; while being a partner in Loading Dock film and video and owning her own company, Banana Split Editing Inc.

Karin credits the origins of her holistic training to her high school, the School within a School at Mamaroneck High School in West chester County, New York.  This was an innovative "I'm okay, your okay" school that featured cohesive school community projects and alterative ways of viewing traditional subjects, with a fair outcome for all autonomous members, headed by Michael Fansblau, Earth Science teacher.

The First Visiting Instructors:

THE WORLD BODY is pleased to welcome Dr. Frank Underdown to its faculty to explore “A Gentle Introduction to the Physics of Atoms & Molecules.” This lecture will explore inorganic and organic molecules, their biological aspects, and what forces are at work to hold them together.

Dr. Underdown is the founder of Keweenaw Nanoscience Center (KNC), which specializes in the research and development of Nanotechnology, Bio-Nanotechnology, and Quantum Optics. Nanoscience is the study of molecules and structures with a least one dimension between 1-100 nm in size. Research done at KNC has found applications in the Life Sciences, Electronics and Optics Industries. KNC also offers custom engineering and design services that include optical, RF and microwave, antennas and mechanical engineering modalities. Dr. Underdown and his associates have set the goal of KNC the application of nanotechnology to solve world problems that impact upon energy, environmental and health issues. His particular research interests center upon Nanotechnology, Bio-Nanotechnology, Optics, Electromagnetic and Microwave Engineering.

Positioned upon the cutting edge of technology, KNC accomplishments include the design of: 1) a laser guidance nanofabrication system, 2) nanogrinding nanofabrication system, 3) optical traps to analyze nanometer sized particles, and 4) nanotechnology software to model nanoscale materials. Patents are pending for the intellectual property listed above.

Dr. Underdown holds several degrees in the discipline of Physics. Having received his Ph.D. from Michigan Technological University in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, he was previously granted a M.S. in Nuclear Physics from Central Michigan University, and a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Central Michigan University.

In addition to his responsibilities at the Keweenaw Nanoscience Center, Dr. Underdown has served as Adjunct Faculty in the Physics Departments of both Northern Michigan University and the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Electronic Technology department at Central Michigan University and the Mathematics department at Mid Michigan Community College. Recently, Dr. Underdown was the first Geir Visiting Assistant Professor at Tennessee Tech University (TTU) where he initiated nanotechnology research and taught a course in nanotechnology. The R&D effort lead to the development of intellectual property including several journal articles pending publication.

In the Private Sector, prior to founding the Keweenaw Nanoscience Center, he was a System Engineer for BLF Accutel (General Signal) Corporation, a RF/Microwave Engineer for California Amplifier Corporation, an Engineering Analyst for Zenith Radio Corporation, and Engineering Technician at both Goodyear Aerospace and Rockwell International.

Dr. Underdown is a member of AAPT, MAAPT, American Physical Society, the Society of Physics Students, Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society and is a KCP Fellow.

Kirby Seid, Teacher of Crystals and Minerals from a Metaphysical Perspective

Kirby Seid is committed to understanding and teaching the emerging importance “crystal / mineral consciousness” is presenting to the evolvement of our own human consciousness.  His extensive research and work with crystals and stones calls forth the manner into which they have long been integrated into every niche of our history, culture and technology.   Mr. Seid has been a student of metaphysics, shamanistic practices, psychology, and music for many years.   Holding a BA in Humanistic Psychology from UC Santa Cruz, Mr. Seid began his education by exploring the human psyche.   These studies led him to pursue more extensive research in anthropology, sociology, neurobiology, and spirituality with professionals from differing fields and perspectives.

An entrepreneur for 20 years, Mr. Seid has traveled the globe in search of fine minerals, fossils and crystals and artifacts; providing them to museums, collectors, practicing spiritual teachers and shamans; gift and educational stores.   His work has brought him into contact with artists throughout the United States, China and Brazil, who focus on producing and reproducing sacred artifacts and tools from crystal, for application in various spiritual practices.

Mr. Seid is cofounder of Ancient Technologies , a business and laboratory dedicated to the advancement of Liminal Light.   Liminal Light calls upon saturating natural quartz crystals with resonant light fields. His work has revealed that by combining light frequencies with natural crystals, then adding the human attributes of attention and Intention, profound states of awareness are produced.

The Liminal Light Project has attracted the attention of artists, spiritual teachers, professionals within the healing arts, researchers of para-psychological phenomenom, and crystal collectors.  With collaborator, Randall Fontes, Mr. Seid teaches Liminal Light workshops nation-wide, most recently at the renowned Omega Institute in New York.

Kirby Seid is dedicated to introducing people to new innovations combined with ancient tools to further the exploration of consciousness through beauty and co-creation. His workshops promote a depth of experience that facilitate self-healing and self-realization.

In addition to his aforementioned work, Mr. Seid has also studied and performed Jazz and Blues from both theoretical and applied viewpoints.   He has also taught guitar.  His philosophy of collaboration and co-creation springs from his training in music and the performing arts.

Mr. Seid can be reached in California, at Kirbyt23@earthlink.net. You may learn more about Kirby Seid and his work by visiting either of his websites at:   www.ancienttechnologies.com, or www.crystalsourcematrix.com.
